Dark Gray Bathroom Tile in Selma
This full bathroom renovation in a Selma home combined a large-format dark gray floor tile with a small 1x1 mosaic accent strip on the lower wall section and a large-format lighter gray tile on the upper wall area. The contrast between the dark floor and lighter walls creates depth in a bathroom that is not large. The mosaic strip serves as a visual transition between the two tile types and breaks up the wall surface at a natural height.
The floor tile is a 24x12 dark gray porcelain with a textured surface for grip. The mosaic strip is a 1x1 glass mosaic mounted on mesh sheets, which requires careful alignment at the transitions. Mesh-mounted mosaic is set with the same thinset as the field tile, but the mesh backing means the installer cannot see the thinset coverage directly, so a notched trowel and back-buttering of the sheet ensures adequate contact.
