Commercial Tile Installation

Commercial tile projects have different requirements than residential work. Traffic volume, slip-resistance ratings, chemical exposure, and scheduling around business operations all factor into how we approach a commercial job.

Commercial Tile: Different Materials, Different Methods

Tile in a commercial setting needs to meet specific performance standards that residential tile does not always have to address. The DCOF (Dynamic Coefficient of Friction) rating matters for floors in public spaces, particularly in areas that get wet. We select tile that meets or exceeds the ANSI A137.1 wet DCOF requirement of 0.42 for level interior floors and 0.60 for ramps, depending on the application.

Epoxy grout is standard in commercial kitchens and food-service areas. Unlike cement-based grout, epoxy grout is non-porous, resistant to staining, and can handle the cleaning chemicals used in commercial environments without degrading. It is harder to work with and more time-consuming to install, but it is the appropriate product for those conditions.

Scheduling is a real consideration on commercial projects. We work with business owners to minimize disruption, whether that means staging the work in sections, working outside of business hours, or coordinating around other trades on a new construction site. We discuss the project timeline in detail before work begins so there are no surprises.

Commercial Project Types We Handle

Retail Spaces

Entry floors, display areas, and restrooms in retail environments. Large-format porcelain is common for its durability and ease of maintenance.

Office Lobbies

First impressions matter. We install patterned, large-format, and feature tile in lobby and reception areas.

Restaurant Kitchens

Non-slip tile floors and epoxy-grouted walls for commercial kitchens, meeting health department surface requirements.

Gyms and Fitness

High-traffic porcelain floors in locker rooms, wet areas, and common spaces designed to hold up under daily use.
